The weekend from February 23-25, the Lady softball team traveled to Laredo to compete in a tournament.

They played a total of five games and ended up winning three and losing two.

“We prepared for this through hours and hours of hard work and practice[,] also using previous games,” first base player, Jalene Rodriguez (11) said.

The tournament overall was good and they had a strong defense and good pitching game throughout it all according to Rodriguez.

Their hardest competitor was Kingsville Academy that they, unfortunately, lost to. “We did not execute our offense when it was needed,” Rodriguez said.

Since it’s early in the season there is still time to work out the kinks and come together even stronger next time.

The team works well and communicates together, and through practice, they are sure to be a driving force amongst softball teams in the valley.

They will continue to practice more particularly on things that they do not execute perfectly during the game Rodriguez mentions.

With hard work, determination, and support they have the ability to achieve many things this season and bring home first place next time.
