COCO is about a Mexican boy who wanted to be a musician like his idol Ernesto De La Cruz. Despite his family’s ban on music, he tries to prove his talent and ends up in the Land of the Dead. He finds a man named Hector and they both discover the truth of the family’s mysterious ban on music.

“I really liked the movie because a lot of people could relate to the movie,” De La Mora said. “It was an accurate demonstration of the Mexican culture,” Jimena De La Mora (12), a student who watched the Pixar animation, said.

The movie commercialized Mexico’s most popular holiday, Day of the Dead.

“I learned a lot from the movie, adding to my previous knowledge about the Holiday that I celebrate myself,” De La Mora said. “We should always commemorate our family members once they pass away and to always forgive others, especially our relatives.”

Whether the movie was actually a tear jerker or not, it left De La Mora in tears.

“As I watched the movie, I didn’t think the movie was going to end on a happy note,” De La Mora said. “When everything worked out in the end, I cried out of happiness.”

According to Rotten Tomatoes, they gave the movie 97% rotten tomatoes and the audience’s average score was 96%.

“I would rate this movie, 5/5 because it was such a beautiful movie. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.” De La Mora said. “I would recommend this movie to others and describe it as ‘A movie with great Mexican traditions used to make a family-friendly movie.”
